North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: A North Waziristan IBO killed four terrorists, including key commander Umar alias Jan Mir alias Tor Saqib, in Spinwam, security sources said Thursday.
Security sources confirmed that the slain commander, who carried a Rs3 million bounty, had planned attacks on security forces and civilians.
Security forces recovered a cache of weapons during the operation. Sources said the militants had constructed underground bunkers and tunnels and laid explosive traps in the vicinity of the Bobali Mosque area.
The sources said the commander used the fortified network to support militant activity in the area. They did not release further details on the recovered weapons.
The Spinwam raid came two days after the Inter-Services Public Relations said security forces had killed 22 India-backed terrorists in Shewa, North Waziristan.
ISPR said that the operation started on May 17 after credible intelligence about the presence of India-sponsored militants. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed militants.

The army said the militants killed in Shewa had taken part in multiple terrorist activities. It also said evidence showed they had coerced local residents and used them as human shields.
The North Waziristan IBO falls under Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign Azm-e-Istehkam. Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to stop militant groups from using Afghan soil for attacks inside Pakistan.
