Noman Ali 100 Test wickets milestone was completed on Tuesday during Pakistan’s first Test against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, making him the oldest player in Test history to reach the mark.
The Pakistan left-arm spinner reached 100 wickets by dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz. He also took the wickets of Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Taijul Islam in the innings.
At 39 years and 217 days, Noman surpassed former England spinner Bobby Peel, who reached 100 Test wickets in 1896 at 39 years and 180 days.
Noman became the ninth Pakistan spinner and 20th Pakistan bowler overall to take 100 wickets in Test cricket.
The 39-year-old also became the joint fourth-fastest Pakistan bowler to the landmark, reaching it in his 22nd Test. Fazal Mahmood also completed 100 Test wickets in 22 matches.
Yasir Shah remains Pakistan’s fastest bowler to 100 Test wickets, achieving the milestone in 17 matches. Saeed Ajmal reached it in 19 Tests, while Waqar Younis and Mohammad Asif did so in 20 matches each.
