Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) announced three-day mourning over the demise of its MNA Tahira Asif in a Lahore hospital.
Following her death, the members of the MQM’s Coordination Committee gathered in London and Karachi. The Rabta Committee announced three-day countrywide peaceful mourning; however, the transport and the businesses will remain open.
The Rabta Committee demanded the government to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of the MQM leader.
The members of the committee said Tahira Asif thrice demanded security from the government; but, she was not provided any protection.
She was brought to Lahore’s Sheikh Zayed Hospital after she received gunshot injuries during a robbery attempt while she was busy buying fruits with her daughter. She was on ventilator at the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) under very critical condition since Wednesday.
