Morocco beat Scotland 1-0 at Gillette Stadium near Boston after Ismael Saibari scored after 71 seconds, the fastest goal of the World Cup so far.
Brahim Diaz supplied the assist as Saibari beat goalkeeper Angus Gunn with a high finish. Grant Hanley had played the Morocco midfielder onside before the early strike.
The win moved Morocco to four points from two Group C matches. Morocco is now close to reaching the last 32 after opening their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Brazil.
Saibari also scored against Brazil last weekend. The 25-year-old PSV Eindhoven midfielder is reportedly close to a 55 million-euro transfer to Bayern Munich.

Scotland failed to test Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou in the first half. Captain Andy Robertson created their best early opening, but John McGinn could not convert his cross in stoppage time.
Morocco nearly doubled the lead five minutes after the break. Saibari met a Bilal El Khannouss cutback, but Jack Hendry’s deflection sent the effort onto the bar.

Gunn later denied El Khannouss from an Achraf Hakimi corner. Scotland pushed late, but Ryan Christie fired over, and Scott McTominay hit the side-netting.
Scotland remains uncertain of progress after missing the chance to secure qualification from Group C. Steve Clarke’s side face Brazil in Miami next Wednesday, while Morocco face Haiti in Atlanta.
