A Manila fire tore through Parola Compound in Binondo on Saturday afternoon, forcing hundreds of families to evacuate, authorities said.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department said the fire started around 3:03 p.m. local time, or 12:03 p.m. PKT. It reached Fifth Alarm by 3:53 p.m. and Task Force Charlie by 5:19 p.m.

The Philippines, whose capital is Manila, sits in Southeast Asia. The affected area lies near Manila Bay and is home to tightly packed homes.
Authorities deployed at least 32 fire trucks and called units from nearby cities. The Manila City government also requested support from the Philippine Air Force for possible aerial containment.
Philippine Red Cross personnel provided medical support and helped with evacuation efforts. Officials had not confirmed the number of casualties or the total number of destroyed structures.
