HENDERSON, Nevada: Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty is believed to have suffered a sprained ankle in Sunday’s practice, with the injury not considered long-term.
The update eased initial fears of a significant knee injury after Jeanty landed awkwardly while diving for a low pass from quarterback Kirk Cousins during 11-on-11 drills on August 23. Trainers helped him off the field while he was unable to put weight on his right leg.
Raiders players and coaches took a knee after Jeanty left the indoor practice field. The team did not immediately announce a diagnosis, while a timetable for his return remained unclear.
Jeanty, 22, was selected sixth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft after starring at Boise State. He started all 17 games during his rookie season, rushing 266 times for 975 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught 55 passes for 346 yards and another five scores, giving him 1,321 yards from scrimmage and 10 total touchdowns.
