Manchester City FA Cup success came at Wembley on Saturday as Pep Guardiola’s side beat Chelsea in the 2026 final through Antoine Semenyo’s second-half goal.
Semenyo struck in the 72nd minute after Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland combined on the right. The forward adjusted to a low pass and flicked the ball into the far corner.
Chelsea had grown stronger after halftime and pushed City back before the goal. However, Semenyo’s finish shifted the match and left Calum McFarlane’s side chasing the game.
City had controlled possession in a slow first half, while Chelsea focused on defensive shape. Guardiola started Omar Marmoush alongside Haaland but replaced him with Rayan Cherki at halftime.
Chelsea threatened early in the second half after James Trafford mishandled a back pass. Rodri then cleared Moisés Caicedo’s looping header near the line after a weak punch from the City goalkeeper.
The London side appealed for a penalty in the 77th minute after Khusanov challenged Jorrel Hato. Referee Darren England allowed play to continue.
City almost added a second late on. Matheus Nunes hit the near post from a tight angle, while Cherki forced Robert Sanchez into a save.
The win gave Guardiola another FA Cup after two straight final defeats for City. Chelsea, meanwhile, suffered a seventh consecutive domestic cup final loss.
