Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar on Friday assumed the charge of the head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Former ISI chief Lt. General Zaheerul Islam was retired on completion of his tenure yesterday.
Lt. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar before assuming the charge of the chief of Pakistan’s prime intelligence agency headed an operation against criminals in the port city of Karachi as Director General Rangers Sindh.
According to official sources, the new ISI chief will be given a policy briefing and ongoing operations at various fronts on the first day of his tenure (today).
