Lil Wayne apologised to fans after missing his scheduled tour-opening performance at Bangor Waterfront in Bangor, Maine, saying the show had been rescheduled to July 28.
The Grammy-winning rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., addressed fans on Instagram on Wednesday, July 1. He asked ticket holders to keep their tickets and said they would remain valid for the new date.
“I can’t wait to come back and give you the show you deserve,” Wayne wrote, according to his Instagram post.
Bangor Daily News and WABI reported that Wayne did not take the stage during Tuesday night’s concert. The show was scheduled to open the extended “20 Years of Carter Classics” tour.
The opening act, 2 Chainz, performed as planned. A DJ then kept the crowd waiting for several hours, according to Bangor Daily News.
The outlet reported that Wayne had been expected to begin his set at 10:45 p.m. By 11 p.m., fans were told he would not perform, and the concert was ending.
