In the first quarter of 2025, Lahore grappled with a disturbing crime surge as over 100 women fell victim to sexual assaults, with the Investigation Police arresting 110 suspects linked to the rape of 103 women.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Zeeshan Raza shared the grim statistics on April 1, noting that the police also nabbed suspects in 40 cases, including the murder of 15 women, and rescued 988 female abductees from 972 registered cases. Additionally, 144 children were recovered in 129 kidnapping cases, with 44 suspects arrested in 41 child rape incidents.
The crackdown didn’t stop there 487 suspects were apprehended for harassing women, and 911 robbers were caught, with goods worth over Rs327 million recovered.

DIG Raza also highlighted the arrest of suspects in two kidnapping-for-ransom cases, vowing, “We’re committed to protecting lives and property.” The alarming rise in sexual assaults in Lahore underscores the urgent need for stronger safety measures in the city.
The Q1 2025 report paints a stark picture of crime in Lahore, with sexual violence against women at the forefront. While police efforts have yielded arrests and rescues, the scale of the crisis demands broader action to ensure women’s safety and curb such heinous acts.
