The New York Knicks won their first NBA championship in 53 years after defeating the San Antonio Spurs, with Jalen Brunson scoring 45 points in the Finals clincher.
Brunson led New York’s comeback after the Spurs held a 42-37 halftime lead at Frost Bank Center. The Knicks had trailed for most of the game before closing out the series.
Karl-Anthony Towns played through foul trouble, while OG Anunoby was limited to 11 points after his Game 4 performance. The Knicks still found enough offense in a physical defensive contest.
Victor Wembanyama started strongly for San Antonio but finished with 19 points. The Spurs had led for long stretches, continuing a pattern seen across the first four games of the series.
