Kim Kardashian reportedly paid the $500,000 bond that allowed Richard Glossip to leave custody in Oklahoma after 29 years behind bars while awaiting a new murder trial.
Film producer and criminal justice advocate Scott Budnick said on Instagram that Kardashian “graciously paid for” Glossip’s bond after years of supporting his case.
Glossip, 63, walked out Thursday with his wife, Lea Glossip, after an Oklahoma judge set bond in the long-running case over the 1997 killing of motel owner Barry Van Treese.
The U.S. Supreme Court set aside Glossip’s conviction in 2025 after finding that prosecutors allowed false testimony, giving him the right to a new trial.
Oklahoma prosecutors still plan to retry Glossip for first-degree murder, though Attorney General Gentner Drummond has said the state will not seek the death penalty if a jury convicts him again.
Glossip has maintained his innocence. Prosecutors accused him of arranging Van Treese’s murder, while Justin Sneed admitted carrying out the killing and testified against him.
Kardashian has publicly supported Glossip’s case for years as part of her criminal justice advocacy. His release conditions require electronic monitoring, continued residence in Oklahoma, no witness contact and no drugs or alcohol.
