Killer cops caught: All SITs disbanded by IGP Sindh

Due to a report aired exclusively by the popular news channel Samaa TV, Inspector General of (IG) of Sindh Police, Ghulam Haider Jamali earlier today, disbanded all the Special Investigation Teams (SITs) in the province with immediate effect.

Samaa TV’s Investigation Unit two days ago exposed a gang of rogue cops involved in unwarranted arrests, unlawful detention, fake encounters, and extrajudicial killings in the eastern district of the metropolis.

“Special Investigation Team (SIT) East, a unit of Karachi police, is at the center of gross violations that led to the deaths of dozens of citizens,” a whistleblower, who is himself a part of that ring of cops, revealed.

IGP Jamali said the DIG West had been tasked to get to the bottom of the allegations faced by the SIT East.

It is noteworthy that ‘outlaw’ cops running the SIT East are also said to have hands in the custodial killing of a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker.

Faisal Jafri, the assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police, who spilled these startling beans, is under arrest for kidnapping for ransom, along with the entire SIT.

“Stationhouse Officer (SHO) Nadeem Baig is ‘the father of fake encounters’ in the east. He should be tried for multiple counts of murders” said Jafri.

The ASI claimed that Baig had recently killed an alleged street criminal,  the 12 year old Abdul Rehman, extra-judicially, which means he was never produced before the court.

“After recovering a gun from the minor, Baig booked him for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. He brought him to the SIT’s secret detention cell, where he kept him overnight. The next day the SHO shot him dead near a police checkpoint in the vicinity of Dar-ul-Sehat Hospital,” Jafri disclosed.

Adding to his disclosures, he also mentioned the names of other officials including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) who were comrades in these crimes.

“Another SHO, Malik Adil is also one of those police officers who have been involved in this,” he alleged.
