Khurram Schehzad, a seasoned investment banker, has been named adviser to Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb on financial reforms. This appointment is part of the government’s initiative to implement significant changes across various sectors to achieve sustainable economic growth.
The Finance Division announced on Thursday that Schehzad will serve as Adviser on Economic & Financial Reforms (SPPS-I) for a two-year term, effective immediately and until further notice.
Schehzad brings a wealth of experience from various leadership roles in investment banking, equity strategy, corporate finance advisory, and asset management. He has previously held significant positions such as CCO and Executive Vice President of Investment Banking at JS Group and EVP – Director of Investment Strategy, Research, and Sales at Arif Habib Group.
Before joining Arif Habib, he was with Lakson Group’s Lakson Investments, where he managed assets totalling US$150 million and served as SVP—Chief Investment Officer. Under his leadership, the fund’s performance consistently ranked in the top quartiles, with the listed Equity Fund achieving the top position for the first time since its inception.
Additionally, the government of Pakistan appointed him the youngest member of the Privatisation Commission’s Board, and he played a significant role in recent privatization successes. He also served as one of the youngest Executive Committee Members of the Board of Investment, contributing to national investment policy-making.
Schehzad is an Independent Evaluator for the HEC/WB Technology Fund and an expert on the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) panel. He holds a certification as a Director from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance. He is a member of the Global Advisory Council of the Harvard Business Review (HBR) and the South Asian Corporate Advisory Council.
