The Sindh Building Control Authority identified 584 unsafe buildings in Karachi and began installing warning banners and making loudspeaker announcements ahead of the monsoon season.
The authority urged residents to leave unstable structures immediately to protect lives and property. It also advised people living nearby to avoid gathering beside the buildings.
The SBCA classified 59 structures as extremely dangerous. Of these, 29 are heritage buildings, creating additional safety and preservation concerns.
District South has the largest concentration, with 442 unsafe buildings. The survey also listed 73 in District Central, 28 in Keamari, 18 in Korangi, 16 in District East, five in Malir and two in District West.

The authorities had not announced a detailed evacuation strategy or alternative housing arrangements for affected residents.
