Karachi, Sindh: The Karachi cattle market at Northern Bypass has closed after selling more than 250,000 sacrificial animals ahead of Eid ul Adha, the market administrator said.
The 1,100-acre market began operations on April 5 and sold about 99% of animals brought from different parts of Pakistan, according to the market administration. Most sections of the site were vacant by the end of operations.
In-charge administration Aslam Baloch said nearly 500 animals, including camels, cows, bulls and goats, remained at the site. He said several blocks, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Sapphire, Golden, Pahari, Karachi and General blocks, had been cleared.
The administration said this year the market offered cattle trading facilities, food streets, children’s play areas, and family entertainment zones. It also arranged security, lighting and public convenience facilities for visitors.
