World No. 1 tennis star Jannik Sinner is gearing up for his competitive return at the Rome Masters in May 2025, following a three-month doping ban.
The 23-year-old Italian, who last played at the Australian Open, accepted the suspension in February after the World Anti-Doping Agency challenged a tribunal’s decision to clear him of two positive tests.
Sinner resumed training on April 13, with his ban ending on May 4, just before the Italian Open begins on May 7. He secured his top ranking after rival Alexander Zverev’s early exit in Monte Carlo. However, Sinner anticipates a challenging comeback. “The first games will be really difficult,” he told ORF Sudtirol. “We’re training hard to get momentum for the clay season.”

With the French Open starting May 25, Sinner has focused on fitness, recently training with world No. 6 Jack Draper in France. He found positives in his time away: “I spent time with family and friends, did new things, and got to know myself better. It helped me a lot.”
Sinner’s return to his home tournament is highly anticipated, but he remains cautious about regaining his rhythm. Fans and analysts alike will closely watch his journey back to top form.
