Israel-Lebanon talks are set to resume in Washington, D.C. on June 23 as the United States seeks to reinforce a fragile ceasefire in Lebanon, a State Department official said.
The official said the fifth round of negotiations would include political and military tracks.
Washington is seeking progress toward what the official described as a “comprehensive peace and security agreement.

The talks follow renewed tensions in Lebanon, where ceasefire arrangements have been tested by reported violations involving Hezbollah and Israeli forces.

A US-brokered truce was first reached in April and renewed on June 20. Both sides have continued to report strikes and artillery fire since the renewal, raising concerns over the stability of the ceasefire.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said more than 4,000 people have been killed since March in the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Lebanon.
