Israel launched wider strikes across Lebanon on Monday after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to step up attacks on Hezbollah.
The Israel Defence Forces said it hit Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa Valley and other areas. The strikes followed drone and rocket attacks on Israeli troops and military sites.
Netanyahu said Israel was “at war with Hezbollah.” He claimed Israeli forces had killed more than 600 Hezbollah fighters and ordered the army to increase its attacks.
Hezbollah said it fired 22 drones and rockets after what it called Israeli ceasefire violations. Lebanese officials reported casualties in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.

Israel and Lebanon agreed earlier this month to extend a 45-day ceasefire, but fighting has continued.
