U.S. forces intercepted an Iran missile attack and drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz and nearby Gulf states, U.S. Central Command said.
CENTCOM said Iranian forces fired seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain after U.S. forces downed four one-way attack drones near the Strait of Hormuz.
The command said the drones posed an immediate threat to maritime traffic in the region.
U.S. forces also struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island. CENTCOM said the strikes were in response to ongoing threats to maritime security.
Initial assessments showed U.S. forces intercepted six missiles. A seventh missile did not reach its target, according to CENTCOM. The command said no U.S. personnel were injured or killed.
CENTCOM also rejected Iranian claims that the U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain had suffered damage. It called the claims false.

“CENTCOM forces remain vigilant and postured to continue responding to unwarranted Iranian aggression in self-defence,” the command said.
