Apple plans to launch the iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, in the latter half of this year.

A new leak has emerged, suggesting a significant redesign for these upcoming models. The potential redesign would involve reintroducing curved edges that harken back to earlier iPhone designs.

Sources like Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo have hinted at notable changes from the current iPhone 16 series. According to the tipster, the transition area between the decorative fuselage and the back shell will feature a sloping connection rather than a stepped one. This modification indicates a shift to rounded sides on the new devices’ frames, which might enhance the ergonomic feel.

Whether these rumoured design alterations apply to all models or specific variants like the Pro or base models, the current iPhone 16 series boasts flat sides with rounded corners. The return of curved edges, reminiscent of earlier models such as the iPhone 6, is anticipated to enhance the in-hand feel.

Design speculation for the iPhone 17 doesn’t stop at its shape. Previous leaks have suggested that the Pro models might adopt a Pixel-style horizontal pill-shaped cutout for their camera modules. Additionally, there’s talk of a shift from titanium to an aluminium frame for the Pro versions. Performance-wise, the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to feature Apple’s A19 Pro chip with 12GB of RAM, while the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim/Air might operate on an A18 or A19 chip, supporting 8GB RAM.

As the launch date approaches, more details about the iPhone 17 series’ design and specifications will likely surface, offering clearer insights into the next generation of Apple’s flagship devices.
