PARIS: Online commenters criticised singer and actor Jennifer Lopez’s umbrella use at Stella McCartney’s fashion show on Wednesday after footage circulated of her bodyguard helping her stay dry.
Her security guard wiped her wet seat before she sat down in the front row. He then held an umbrella above her while standing in the rain.
Some viewers objected to his role in keeping Lopez dry. Others focused on the umbrella’s position and argued that it obstructed the runway view for guests behind her.
RTVisual (@RT_Visual_on_X) shared footage on X on Thursday and criticised her conduct. Its caption characterised the scene as “diva behaviour”. The descriptions reflected commenters’ judgements about the incident.

After the guard moved away, Lopez held the umbrella herself. Staff subsequently asked her to lower it before the runway presentation began.

McCartney staged the outdoor event in the British ambassador’s gardens during Paris Fashion Week. The designer presented her Spring/Summer 2027 collection as rain fell around the front-row guests.
Lopez eventually set the umbrella aside and remained at the show without it.
