The Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has termed leaking suspects confessional videos as an “illegal and unethical” act and demanded that the Sindh government find out which investigating agency was behind these leaks.
“The cases would be decided in courts and not through a media trial,” he said in a statement issued in Islamabad.
“Such kind of coverage weakens the cases [of the prosecution] instead of strengthening them.”
In a statement issued here, he said that cases should be decided in the courts and not through media.
Nisar said that Interior Ministry also wrote a letter to the Sindh government to investigate those who were behind such incidents.
The Interior Minister said that unnecessary broadcasting of the suspects’ videos weakens the due process of investigation on the pending cases instead of strengthening them.
He further stated that the ministry was also writing another letter to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) asking it to formulate a code and procedure to restrict such incidents in future. (PhotoNews / APP)
