Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has written to Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir to express concerns about the widening gap between the military and the public.

While addressing the media, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan revealed on Monday that Khan, as former Prime Minister, penned the letter to acknowledge and praise the sacrifices made by the Pakistani armed forces.

Barrister Gohar quoted Khan from the letter: “The Pakistan Army is making great sacrifices. This country and its army belong to us. We do not want chaos, and the public must support the army.”

PTI leader Faisal Chaudhry also confirmed the letter’s dispatch, stating that Khan emphasized the army’s ongoing sacrifices and the nation’s need to unite with the military. Chaudhry outlined that Khan’s letter addressed six critical issues, including alleged electoral fraud during the February 8, 2024 elections and concerns regarding the 26th constitutional amendment. Further, the letter mentioned the verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case and raised points concerning the economy.

The interaction between Imran Khan and judicial authorities was also highlighted. On January 31, Khan sent detailed letters to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Aminuddin Khan, who heads the constitutional bench. These 349-page letters, which the judicial officials have received, lay out a series of demands and grievances concerning pivotal political incidents.

These communications request a commission to investigate notable events from May 9 and November 26, which remain central to ongoing political and legal discourse. The letters criticize the crackdown on PTI workers after these incidents, detailing raids on their homes, arrests, and the general treatment of party members by the authorities. Khan’s letters also call for scrutiny of the political processes surrounding the February 8 elections, emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness.
