A concealed camera was uncovered in the women’s washroom of Ghazal Hostel, a private girls’ hostel in Johar Town, Lahore, sparking significant concerns about privacy violations.
The hostel administration installed the device to record videos of female students showering. The hostel accommodates over 40 students from various cities.
The discovery led to the filing of a police complaint by Nasir Mahmood, an uncle of one of the residents and a native of Gujrat district. Following his complaint, the Johar Town police station registered a case against seven individuals, including members of the hostel management.
The accused include the hostel owner, Mian Saleem from BOR Society, and his wife Fauzia, along with Sagheer from Vehari, Muhammad Zubair from Jhang, Ali Hassan from Rahim Yar Khan, Taimoor Shahzad from Sheikhupura, and Irfan from Pakpattan. They reportedly fled the scene upon receiving a police call.
An ongoing police investigation has involved recording statements from the resident students, confirming the illicit surveillance. After these revelations, authorities have evacuated and officially sealed the hostel to assess further and address this grievous breach of privacy and trust.
