Hayatabad Medical Complex has banned the sale and use of cigarettes, naswar, paan and nicotine pouches across its hospital premises. This is according to an official notification issued by the administration.
The medical facility in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said the restriction was imposed because the products pose serious health risks.
The notification said all intoxicating substances, including naswar and paan, are strictly prohibited inside the hospital. It said the ban also applies to Velo and other nicotine pouch products.
The administration also barred the sale of tobacco products at hospital canteens and shops. It issued strict instructions to canteen operators and shopkeepers.

Hayatabad Medical Complex warned that violations would lead to cancellation of canteen contracts and sealing of shops.
The hospital administration said the Medical Teaching Institution would be made free of health-hazardous substances.
Security and facility management teams have been assigned joint monitoring duties. Meanwhile, the hospital director has been instructed to submit regular compliance reports.
