NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas: Stephen Curry reacts cautiously to LeBron James’ decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers, saying Saturday that he did not envision any move before it became real.
“That’s why you don’t envision anything until it happens,” Curry told Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic. “There’s a lot of moving parts.”
Curry spoke on July 25 while attending the Moses Moody Day Summit at North Little Rock High School. Golden State Warriors teammate Moses Moody hosted the youth event.
The Warriors were among several teams linked with James during his free agency. Curry and James previously played together for the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

— FanDuel (@FanDuel) July 25, 2026James announced on Friday, July 24, that he would leave the Los Angeles Lakers and join the Philadelphia. Reports said the 41-year-old forward would sign a two-year, $8 million contract.
The four-time NBA champion said Philadelphia gave him another opportunity to pursue a title. He will join a roster featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown, according to NBA.com.
Curry also addressed Golden State’s outlook without James. He said injuries to Jimmy Butler and Moody had changed the team’s plans and forced the Warriors to assess how they could remain competitive.
Butler is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, while Moody is rehabilitating a torn patellar tendon. Curry described himself as realistic about the challenge but remained open to roster improvements.

Curry averaged 26.6 points across 43 games last season. He will enter the final season of his four-year, $215.3 million contract, according to Sportsnet.
