Govt should not force opposition to take to the streets insists PPP’s Shah

Leader of the Opposition, Syed Khursheed Shah warned the government earlier today to refrain from pushing the ”united” oppositions to the streets in protest.

In a series of statements, Shah criticised the government and said that it needed to take a step backward.

“The government should take one step back. They should refrain from pushing a united opposition out to the streets,” he said.

Shah also said that the opposition had the last right to take to the streets in protest, as a last option. He also slammed the budget presented by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday and claimed that it did not contain any direction.

“The priorities of the government were not even mentioned in the budget,” he said. “The budget had been planned and presented at the parliament without any preparation,” he added.

Khursheed Shah also pointed out that instead of increasing the budget for important sectors such as education, their budget was reduced.

The opposition has mainly remained united after the Panama leaks issue came to the fore. A Panamanian tax firm’s documents disclosed the fact that the name of some offshore companies could be traced back to PM Nawaz’s three children Hassan, Hussain and Maryam Nawaz.

Opposition parties have called for Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif to resign and hold himself accountable. PTI chief Imran Khan has also hurled accusations at PM Nawaz of indulging in tax evasion and money laundering.
