BERLIN: Iranian intelligence services may be targeting US bases in Germany, including Ramstein and Spangdahlem, Western intelligence officials told WirtschaftsWoche.
Their account, published on Thursday, raised concerns about possible covert attacks. According to those officials, Israel warned American and German partners roughly three weeks earlier.
The concerns centred on installations supporting US operations and logistics connected to the conflict with Iran. However, a US European Command spokesperson declined to discuss specific intelligence assessments or protective measures.
“It is inappropriate to discuss matters of intelligence,” the spokesperson said. The command said it remained vigilant and was continuously assessing security conditions across Europe.
Germany’s defence ministry also declined to comment. Meanwhile, the Iranian and Israeli embassies in Berlin did not immediately answer requests for comment.

Separately, a person told Reuters that Germany had monitored increased Iranian activity for weeks. That person did not address the newspaper’s specific allegations.
Both installations support North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) air forces. Ramstein houses United States Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa and NATO’s Allied Air Command.

Although intelligence assessments included concerns about possible drone attacks, they identified no specific attack time or target.
On Monday, US authorities linked an Iranian threat to the removal of American B-1 bombers from Britain’s Royal Air Force Fairford.
