All flight operations have been temporarily suspended at the Benazir International Airport in Islamabad after a bomb scare in at least two international airlines was reported early morning today.
An emergency has been declared at the airport. Security officials have diverted 10 international flights to airports in Lahore and Peshawar.
Police reached the airport and all flights are being checked. Two flights have been given a security clearance and allowed to take off.
Passengers stranded at the airport are facing difficulties as it is expected the operations will resume at 11 a.m.
On March 17, a similar bomb scare was reported at the New Delhi Indira Gandhi Airport. After halting flight operations for several hours it was found that the bomb scare was actually a rumour.
