MILAN, Italy: A one-off Ferrari Luce EV auction raised USD 40 million during Monterey Car Week, with Ferrari saying the sale set a world record for a new car sold at auction.
The bespoke vehicle, known as “Chassis 0,” came from Ferrari’s Tailor Made division and design centre. RM Sotheby’s handled the sale in partnership with Ferrari.
Ferrari said the USD 40 million result surpassed the USD 26 million paid at auction for a one-off Daytona SP3 last year. The company will direct the Luce proceeds to education projects through the Ferrari Foundation.
