The federal government has declared a Rs 7 per litre rise in petrol and diesel prices over the coming fortnight, marking the third straight increase in fuel prices since the beginning of the year.

New Prices Effective Immediately

  • Petrol: Increased by Rs 1 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs 257.13 per litre.
  • High-speed diesel (HSD): The price has increased by Rs 7 per litre to Rs 267.95 per litre.

This is the third consecutive fortnightly increase in fuel prices:

  1. January 1:
  • Petrol: Increased by 56 paisas to Rs 252.66 per litre.
  • High-Speed Diesel: Increased by Rs 2.96 to Rs 258.34 per litre.
  1. January 16:
  • Petrol: Increased by Rs 3.47 to Rs 256.13 per litre.
  • High-Speed Diesel: Increased by Rs 2.61 to Rs 260.95 per litre.

The consistent rise in fuel prices is expected to increase the cost of transportation and goods, affecting households and businesses across the country. The government has attributed the hikes to fluctuations in global oil prices and the depreciation of the Pakistani rupee.
