Karachi, Sindh: Karachi Traffic Police warned residents about fake e-challan SMS messages sent by scammers impersonating the department’s official 1915 helpline.
The police said fraudsters were circulating deceptive text messages and payment links to mislead motorists. Authorities urged recipients to verify every notification before responding or making a payment.
Officials advised citizens not to click unverified links or disclose personal, banking or financial information in response to suspicious messages.
Karachi Traffic Police said genuine notices are issued only through authorised channels. Anyone receiving a questionable SMS or e-challan should contact the 1915 helpline before taking further action.

The warning comes as Karachi continues expanding its electronic traffic enforcement system. Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah previously said the faceless e-challan system had replaced some manual challans but was not yet fully operational across the city.
Officials have also identified 36 locations where wrong-way driving violations are most common. The traffic police plan to deploy a Special Traffic Flow Unit on major roads to improve enforcement and traffic discipline.
