Karachi e-challan action drew public attention after a viral video showed traffic police photographing motorcycles in a factory parking area, with officials saying they targeted motorcycles with unclear number plates.
Traffic police personnel took pictures of motorcycles parked inside a Karachi factory during the hot weather.
A factory employee recorded the officials and shared the footage on social media, where the video drew public reaction.
Karachi Traffic Police said officers issued e-challans only to motorcycles carrying broken, incomplete or unclear number plates.
پھر کہتے ہیں کراچی دشمن نہیں https://t.co/f2kkGmpilU pic.twitter.com/Ug9p8Vm4Gq

Officials said the photographs supported a verification and awareness campaign for compliance with traffic rules.
Police officials said companies and employees had already been instructed to install original, clearly visible number plates before the operation.
Traffic authorities said the viral Karachi video dated back several days and urged citizens to use government-approved number plates to avoid penalties.
Karachi Traffic Police earlier announced a citywide crackdown from March 30, 2026, against vehicles and motorcycles using fancy, altered, covered or missing number plates.
Officials said traffic police, district police, the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell, excise police and the Citizens Police Liaison Committee would conduct joint checks across Karachi.
Police said the e-challan system has blocklisted more than 23,000 vehicles and motorcycles since October 2025 for covering or removing number plates to evade detection.
