A viral claim by Aleema Khan, PTI president, is false. A fact-check reviewed the original interview and found that she made none of the statements attributed to her online.
The claim spread after an X user shared a nearly two-minute clip on August 21, accompanied by an Urdu caption. The caption falsely attributed remarks about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership to Khan.
The post also falsely claimed that Aleema Khan wanted control of the party and wished for jailed former prime minister Imran Khan to die in prison. At the time, the post had received 2,625 views and 38 likes. Similarly, similar posts appeared on X and Facebook. However, Fact Check reviewed the full interview with Australian journalist Mario Nawfal. The review found no such remarks.

The circulating extract appears at around 4:14 in the original interview, where Khan discusses other matters.
The original discussion covered Imran Khan’s imprisonment, the May 9 events and the treatment of PTI supporters. Even the shortened viral clip does not contain the comments written in the accompanying caption.

The interview dates to August 2025, not August 2024. PTI’s official English-language YouTube channel identifies the interview with Nawfal as taking place on August 22, 2025. It published its recording on August 23.
Separately, Aleema Khan said in April 2026 that she was not seeking a PTI position. She was focused on efforts concerning her brother’s release.
