According to his family’s statement on Friday, Azam Khan, the principal secretary to ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, has reportedly disappeared.
The Islamabad police have opened an abduction case following Azam’s disappearance. The initial report (FIR) was lodged by Azam’s nephew, Muhammad Saeed Khan, at Kohsar police station in Islamabad. The case was filed under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code, referring to kidnapping or abduction.
As stated in the FIR, Azam left his home for an appointment in Islamabad on June 15 around 6:30 or 7 pm and has not been heard since.
The FIR noted that despite the family’s extensive efforts to locate him through every possible contact, Azam’s whereabouts remain unknown. Azam’s phone is switched off, rendering him unreachable. The complainant requested legal action.
The FIR was filed several hours post Saeed’s complaint at Kohsar police station. In response, the capital police promised legal action and encouraged the complainant to contact the appropriate police station to start proceedings.
The police also stated on Twitter, appealing to the public to report any information about Azam on the police helpline 15.
