TAIYUAN, China: Saghar Moradi gold-capped an unbeaten six-bout run Sunday as the Iranian defeated Greece’s Styliani Marentaki 2-0 to win the women’s -67kg title in Taiyuan.

The victory came on August 30, the final day of the Taiyuan 2026 World Taekwondo Women’s Open Championships. World Taekwondo had awarded the event to the Chinese city as part of its international competition calendar.

Moradi won all six of her matches in straight rounds and finished the tournament without conceding a round. She beat Darya Mesli, Jiang Jianni, Chloe Chua and Doris Pole before reaching the semifinals.

The Iranian then faced Serbia’s Aleksandra Perisic, the Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallist. Moradi won 2-0 to reach the final.

Before repeating that score against Marentaki for the title. Serbian reporting also confirmed that Perisic’s only defeat in Taiyuan came against eventual champion Moradi.
