TEHRAN: Iran Olympiad medals reached seven golds across two major 2026 science competitions after its students won in physics and mathematics, state-linked media reported.
Iran’s team won three gold and two silver medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad in Bucaramanga, Colombia, held from July 4 to 12.
Hirbod Foudazi, Kian Zarabian and Mohammad Mirmohammadi won gold medals. Nima Koushki and Amirsam Goharpay won silver medals, according to Iranian media reports.
Press TV reported that Foudazi finished as the top overall contestant after recording the highest score in the theoretical examinations. Kian Zarabian also achieved first place in the experimental exam.

The IPhO event brought together more than 400 students from more than 90 countries, Tasnim News reported.
Iran also won the team title at the fourth International Mathematics Competition of Shanghai 2026, securing four gold medals and two silver medals. The Iranian team finished ahead of Poland and Brazil among 49 participating countries.
The mathematics squad included Arian Zandi, Arsha Azizoddin, Seyed Amirhossein Tayeb, Alireza Sharifi, Radin Nik Eghbali and Ali Joonbakhsh Najafabadi.
