TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: Iran’s Anahita Zarei and Nasim Ghasemi collected seven medals in the women’s 77kg competition at the 2026 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships on Thursday.
Zarei won youth gold medals in the clean and jerk and overall total. She also secured bronze in the youth snatch and silver in the junior clean and jerk.
Ghasemi claimed the youth snatch gold in the same weight category. She added silver medals in the clean and jerk and overall total.

The results gave Iran both individual discipline titles in the youth women’s 77kg event. Ghasemi led the snatch, while Zarei took the clean and jerk title.
According to the Asian Weightlifting Federation start book, the women’s 77kg Group A competition was scheduled for 10 a.m. local time.

The championships began in Tashkent on August 7 and are scheduled to conclude on August 14.
