Sean “Diddy” Combs faced another judicial setback when U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian denied his bail request on Wednesday.
Combs, awaiting a May trial on sex trafficking charges, had hoped a proposed $50 million bail would secure his release. However, Subramanian, referencing strong evidence, highlighted Combs as a “serious risk” for witness tampering and concealing communications while in jail.
Previously, two judges had concurred with prosecutors that Combs posed a community danger if released. Subramanian reaffirmed this stance, noting Combs’s alleged violent tendencies.

The defence had argued that Combs’s interactions described in the indictment were consensual, and new evidence countered claims of his coercive use of power. Despite this, Subramanian cited instances of Combs violating jail regulations, such as using other inmates’ phone codes for unauthorized calls and attempting to manipulate the jury pool through third-party communications.

Prosecutors maintained that no bail conditions could adequately safeguard the public or ensure Combs would not flee, citing his ongoing efforts to influence the case from jail.
Ultimately, Subramanian expressed doubts about any bail conditions effectively restraining Combs, particularly under home confinement, due to the grave nature of the allegations and his demonstrated disregard for legal constraints.
