Clint Eastwood retirement speculation grew after his son, Kyle Eastwood, said the 96-year-old Hollywood actor and director had retired from filmmaking.
Kyle Eastwood, a musician and composer, made the comment in an interview with French media while recalling his work on his father’s films. Several entertainment outlets later reported the remarks after Eastwood turned 96 on May 31.
Clint Eastwood has not personally released a public retirement statement. Vanity Fair reported that the status remains unofficial, in Eastwood’s own words, noting that he has previously rejected talk of retirement.
Eastwood’s most recent directed film was “Juror No. 2,” a 2024 legal thriller starring Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette and J. K. Simmons. The film was released by Warner Bros. Pictures and has been widely treated as a possible final project.
The actor-director built a career spanning more than seven decades, from Sergio Leone’s “Dollars” trilogy and “Dirty Harry” to later work behind the camera. He won Best Picture and Best Director Oscars for “Unforgiven” and “Million Dollar Baby.”

Kyle’s remarks have renewed debate over whether “Juror No. 2” will stand as Eastwood’s final film. For now, the retirement claim rests on his son’s comments rather than a direct announcement from Eastwood.
