Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a seven-member special committee, headed by the Finance Minister, to prepare recommendations for the budget 2026-27.
According to officials, the committee will review budget-related matters and submit its final recommendations to the prime minister for approval.
The panel includes the Minister for Economic Affairs, the Minister for Planning and the Minister for Law. Chief Technical Adviser Musharraf Rasul and the Additional Secretary to Finance are also part of the committee.

Officials said the committee will assess the performance and financial needs of key ministries, including Commerce, Power, Privatisation and IT. Its findings will help shape proposals for the Public Sector Development Programme.
The committee will also review ongoing Power Division cases in international courts and recommend a financial framework for legal representation abroad.
Its terms of reference include assessing climate support levies for green startup financing and reviewing implementation reports on the government’s rightsizing policy across ministries.
The committee is expected to present its recommendations in the coming weeks, ahead of final budget 2026-27 preparations.
