Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan stated that airing videos of arrested and under trial suspects is an ‘immoral and illegal act’.

In a statement issued in Islamabad, he said that cases should be decided in the courts and not through media.

Nisar said that Interior Ministry also wrote a letter to the Sindh government to investigate those who were behind such incidents.

The Interior Minister said that unnecessary broadcasting of the suspects’ videos weakens the due process of investigation on the pending cases instead of strengthening them.

He further stated that the ministry was also writing another letter to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) asking it to formulate a code and procedure to restrict such incidents in future. (APP
