NASHVILLE: Country singer Wynonna Judd is revisiting Tammy Wynette’s 1974 hit “Woman to Woman” for a PBS tribute concert premiering October 23, nearly three decades after she recorded her own version.
Judd performs the song in Great Performances – Tammy Wynette: Forever Yours, a television special recorded at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Entertainment publication Parade released an exclusive preview of the performance on Friday, October 9.
The appearance brings Judd back to a song she recorded in 1998 for Tammy Wynette Remembered, an album released after Wynette’s death. Her earlier recording reached No. 62 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
Wynette originally released “Woman to Woman” in July 1974. Written by Billy Sherrill, the song reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart and topped Canada’s country chart. Now, 28 years after her first recording, Judd has returned to the track to celebrate Wynette’s music.
The upcoming concert features performances by several country and rock artists. Wynette’s daughter, Georgette Jones, introduces the programmer and performs during the tribute.
