Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), encouraged Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Pakistan (MQM-P), a crucial coalition partner in the center, to assure its “all-out” involvement in the provincial, local body elections.
In an exclusive phone interview with the local private Tv channel ‘GEO News”, the foreign minister said that the MQM-P had seasonal MPs who must make “smart political decisions.”
In the meantime, the MQM-P Rabita Committee is holding a crucial meeting at its Bahadurabad office to decide whether or not to participate in the next local government elections.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the MQM-P chose not to reverse its delimitation decision. However, sources stated that the party was considering submitting resignations from the ministries.
In response to a question, the PPP leader stated that his party was in continual contact with MQM-P but was now preoccupied with preparations for tomorrow’s elections.
He urged the populace to utilize their democratic right for the metropolis’s development. Bilawal hoped that his party would sweep the polls in Hyderabad while the Pakistan Democratic Movement would elect the mayor of Karachi (PDM).
“I believe MQM-P will never make a non-political decision. But, on the contrary, he said it would contribute to the improvement of Karachi and Hyderabad.
The PPP chairman said parties should avoid religious and linguistic politics and compete with Jamaat-e-Islami in Karachi and Hyderabad.
After the elections, they will develop Karachi together.
When asked again, the foreign minister stated they sought to save their alliance with MQM-P.
He noted that all major parties, including PPP, oppose constituency delimitation.
Bilawal remarked, “PPP voiced the most objections over the delimitation,” yet his party is still running.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ordered polls in numerous Sindh districts after much ado.
The polls are ready, and 43,605 law enforcement officials and staff will maintain order.
