Quetta, Balochistan: The Balochistan Health Department suspended 23 young doctors over the Balochistan doctors’ strike in Quetta, officials said, as authorities moved to keep public hospitals open.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Media, Shahid Rind, said the department also issued show-cause notices to 25 officers. He said authorities suspended the postgraduate training registrations of five doctors.
The provincial government said strikes and closures at healthcare institutions providing essential medical services violated existing judicial directives. Officials said the government had opened a formal inquiry into the matter.

Authorities said all government hospitals and health facilities across Balochistan would continue operations. They warned that employees absent from essential duties would face disciplinary action under service rules.
The government also formed a high-level review committee to assess security at public health institutions. Officials said the committee would include senior doctors, provincial representatives, health department officials and security personnel.
The provincial government said healthcare remains a critical public service. It said actions that disrupt medical services or violate service regulations would not be tolerated.
Officials said the government would address doctors’ legitimate concerns while maintaining hospital operations. They said transparent and impartial investigations would determine responsibility in related cases.
