Islamabad: Australian Foreign Minister Ms Julie Bishop arrived in Islamabad today (Wednesday) on two-day visit to Pakistan and to discuss regional and international situation and increase bilateral trade.
The Australian Foreign Minister will hold official talks with Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and meet ministers for Interior, and Planning & Development.
Ms Julie Bishop would also call on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
She would also visit Lahore where she would meet with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Pakistan and Australia enjoy close and cooperative relations. There are 80,000 overseas Pakistanis living in Australia, contributing to the progress and development of the country.
Australia is a popular destination for Pakistani students. Around 13,000 Pakistani students are presently enrolled in Australian colleges and universities in various disciplines.
During the bilateral meetings, both Pakistan and Australia will explore the possibilities of further strengthening existing ties, especially in trade, investment, agriculture, education, sports and
defence.
There will be renewed focus on elevating economic engagement and boosting bilateral trade.
