Pakistan Stock Exchange Falls as KSE-100 Sheds 1,690 Points

The Pakistan Stock Exchange closed sharply lower on Wednesday, September 2, as the KSE-100 Index lost 1,690.40 points, or 0.96%, to finish at 174,776.60, according to PSX data.

The benchmark traded between 175,841.83 and 174,562.88 during the session after closing at 176,466.99 in the previous session, the PSX Daily Stock Market Report showed.

Market breadth remained negative. Of 501 companies traded in the ready market, 113 advanced, 356 declined and 32 remained unchanged.

Selling was also visible across the broader indices. The KSE All Share Index fell 1,065.46 points, or 0.99%, while the KMI All Share Index declined 1.06%. The Oil and Gas Tradable Index (OGTI) dropped by 1.23%, according to the PSX market data.

Ready-market turnover fell to 610.18 million shares from 784.47 million shares in the previous session, a decline of about 22.2% based on PSX figures.

Traded value decreased to Rs 31.86 billion from Rs 37.41 billion, while total market capitalisation fell to approximately Rs 19.58 trillion from Rs 19.78 trillion.

The KSE-30 Index also ended 0.95% lower at 52,134.27, reinforcing the broad decline across the session.
