Asus is set to upgrade its ROG Ally X gaming console, promising a significantly enhanced battery and expanded memory.
According to recent leak reports, the ROG Ally X will feature an 80Wh battery, doubling the capacity of its predecessor’s 40Wh unit to address user complaints about the original model’s short battery life.
Memory improvements are also on the horizon for the ROG Ally X. It will boast 24GB of LPDDR5 RAM, an increase from the 16GB found in the first-generation model. Additionally, memory bandwidth will jump to 7,500MHz from 6,400MHz, aiming to boost the device’s performance.
Despite these upgrades, the ROG Ally X will retain the AMD Ryzen Z1 Ultimate APU and a 7-inch full-HD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, similar to the first-generation model.
The cooling system will see an upgrade with a new fan design that is 23% smaller and features fins that are 50% thinner, improving airflow by 10%.
With the larger battery, the ROG Ally X will be slightly bulkier. It will measure 36.9mm in thickness 4.5mm more than the original and weigh 678g, which is 70g heavier.
The anticipated price for the new Asus ROG Ally X is around $799. Starting on June 4, more details will be revealed at Computex 2024.
