A hidden Assassin’s Creed Hexe Easter egg in “Black Flag Resynced” may point to Nuremberg, Germany, expanding earlier rumours that Ubisoft’s next flagship game centres on Würzburg.
The clue appears in the remake’s new Animus Ego storyline, which replaces parts of the original modern-day narrative. Players found a detailed recreation of Nuremberg’s St. Lorenz Church among structures representing other games in the franchise.
The cathedral appears alongside recognisable references to “Assassin’s Creed Origins,” “Odyssey,” “Valhalla,” “Mirage”, and “Shadows.” Fans, therefore, believe the otherwise unexplained German landmark could represent “Hexe,” according to reports published on July 14.
Ubisoft released “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced” on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The remake adds new story material and more closely links its present-day content to the franchise’s current Animus storyline.
Previous unconfirmed leaks placed “Hexe” primarily in Würzburg during the German witch trials of 1625. Those reports also described a female protagonist named Anika and a darker, stealth-focused structure, but Ubisoft has not verified those details.
The Nuremberg discovery does not disprove the Würzburg theory. It instead raises the possibility that both cities could appear in a broader German setting.
